Add Functionality to the ACT Web Info Tab with Custom Links

Like you, I manage my business through my ACT database. My favorite tab in Act! is the ACT Web Info Tab for its instant ability to find a wealth of information about… anything and everything. And researching my contacts or their companies helps me develop a deeper relationship with that person or gather relevant data about the company for our joint project, transaction, agreement, and so on. The ACT Web Info Tab is a fantastic source of viewing internet data regarding contacts without leaving the Act! program, saving me time in everyday use from having to toggle between Act! and the internet browser.

While ACT! comes with many useful links, including those for Google and Yahoo, some people prefer to use Bing (powered by Microsoft) as their Search Engine site. As with most features in ACT CRM, the Web Info Tab is easy to customize and by adding a couple of custom Bing Links – you can make Bing your ‘Research Engine’.

Bing Your Contacts - to create the Bing links, select the Edit Links button on the tab and follow these simple steps:

1. Click the Add button
2. In the Site Name box, type Bing and if you are going to be searching based on an ACT! field such as Company then include a descriptive name for your link i.e. Bing – Company
3. In the URL box, type http://www.bing.com/search?q={act field name} i.e. http://www.bing.com/search?q={Company}

Repeat the steps above if you want to add another link to search a different database field. Click the OK button to close the edit box and you will now see your custom links in the User Links list. Bing On!

[Note- The list is in alpha-order and your new link may appear at the bottom of the list. Select the Edit Links button once more to resort into alpha-order.]

Now if Bing isn’t your thing, you can add your own industry-specific sites as links that you use in your business. Financial Companies can add links to financial sites, Real Estate Companies to residential/commerical listing sites, Retailers to shipping sites, etc. – the possibilities are up to you!

Sage ACT! + E-marketing + Social Media > Boost Your Reach

Sage E-marketing for ACT! now has Social Media Sharing with the ability to post e-mail blast information to your Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn pages. This feature enables you to reach out to your social networks with every e-mail send and your e-mail recipients to help spread your message to their social networks.

Once in place, when you send your campaign through the e-mail marketing service you will have the option to select the social media outlet(s) to post to. When you post to your social media account(s) you will see an entry containing the E-mail Subject Line and a link to the E-mail Message used for the campaign. Your Friends, Followers and Connections will be able to interact with the post by liking, commenting, retweeting, sharing and so on.

The Social Media Sharing feature also allows you to include links for Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn in the footer of your e-mail campaigns. With the click of a corresponding icon the e-mail recipient can post a link to your e-marketing message directly to their social network site.
